The Best Nightlife in San Pedro Belize Clubs & Music

This blog is about San Pedro, Belize nightlife.

First, I want to say that Belize is one of my favorite countries! I went for 7 days for my anniversary, and it was truly magical. We both can’t wait to go back, and I HIGHLY recommend Belize for anyone who wants to visit paradise. San Pedro is a beautiful island with so much to offer!

There’s so much to do there, and Belize’s nightlife is as vibrant as ever. I guarantee you’ll have a great time. Use this blog as your guide to San Pedro, Belize’s nightlife, and add these spots to your travel itineraries!

San Pedro, Belize

There are two ways to get to San Pedro, Belize. First, you have to fly into Belize City, and from there you can take the ferry or another small plane to the island. The ferry takes about 45 mins from Belize City, while the airline takes only 15 mins.

We took the small plane and booked via Maya Airlines, which I definitely recommend. The plane is small, but the views are beautiful. It’s unlike anything, I’ve ever done before and truly feels like a tropical paradise. Plus, you’ll get great views of the island, it’s a truly unforgettable experience.

Traveling Around San Pedro: Golf Cart

When you hop off the ferry or plane, you’ll likely need transportation! One thing I loved about San Pedro was that most people use golf carts for traveling! There are very few cars on the island and it makes it so much better to get around the island.

There are tons of golf carts are essential to get around the island, and you’re especially going to want one if you’re trying to get to the north side with bars, clubs, or beaches like Secret Beach! Don’t be like us though, and make the mistake of getting the first golf cart that you see. We did this, and it was much more expensive than it should’ve been. Renting a golf cart should be around $50 – $60 USD a day. Definitely shop around before you arrive or when you get there, so you can get the best bang for your buck. You don’t need a car rental at all!

Popular Belize Bars and Clubs

There are a ton of great bars that have great food, happy hour, and friendly staff!

Palapa Bar

Palapa Bar was one of our favorite bars in San Pedro! It was right next to our hostel and was the ideal spot for happy hour on the ocean. They are an over the water hut that has live music everyday, and great tropical cocktail like the panty ripper, caribbean mojitos, watermelon whatchamacallit. They also have great food like fish tacos, burritos, and fajitas!

It’s a great option to relax, enjoy good food and drinks, and enjoy the live music!

Wayos Beach Bar

Wayo’s Beach Bar is another great option known for their live DJ, live music, drinks and food. They have different events in their lounge area on most nights and you can check out their Facebook page to learn more. The locals and tourists always highly recommend going to Wayo’s Beach Bar!

*There used to also be Crazy Canucks, and we were looking forward to visiting but they are permanently shut down.

Ambergris Caye: Secret Beach Belize

On our second day, we loaded up in our golf cart and headed to Secret Beach! This was one of my favorite experiences on the island. It takes about 40 minutes to get from San Pedro to Secret Beach in the Ambergris Caye. There are tons of bars, food trucks, and beach clubs along the way!

I recommend going to Secret Beach on Thursday – Sunday. Leave on the early side (around 10a or 11a) because you’ll want to spend all day there. Once you get to Secret Beach, there are a ton of beach bars to choose from.

Beach Bars

My favorite spot was Maruba Beach Klub, they had great seating areas right near the beach! You have to spend a minimum of $50 USD when you’re there, but that honestly wasn’t hard to do. They have options for vegetarians and vegans which was great for me! Plus they had a great DJ who played good music to keep up the vibes.

They also have seats in the ocean where you can get drinks and food. It was incredible. The water was warm and very shallow. We were about 10 feet out and could still stand (and I’m short!). Plus, if you need more relaxation they have masseuses ready to whisk you away. It’s a great place to soak up the sun, relax, and have a unforgettable day.

Everyone there was so friendly and the staff was all great. When you go, make sure to take their signature drink the “viper shot” where you take a shot out of a bottle that has a real viper in it!

Other Beach Bars:

The Truck Stop

On your way back from Secret Beach, you have to visit the Truck Stop! They’re a bunch of food vendors of all kinds ranging from asian, pizza, tacos, ice cream, and more! Options were available for all different dietary requirements. They also have a bar serving great drinks and live music starting around 6 pm.

It was so fun, they have games to play as well as movie nights. Plus it’s by the water, and they even have a pool! It’s the perfect place to eat, drink, and watch the sunset. It’s truly magical.

Night Clubs

We mostly spent time in bars that had live music, instead of nightclubs in Belize. We were excited to visit Jaguar’s Temple Nightclub near Central Park, but unfortunately, it was shut down.

The Verse Allure

One night club we heard a lot of good things about from others in our hostel was, The Verse Allure, located right by the John Greif II Airport. They’re open Thursday nights – Sunday nights from 9 pm – 2 am. There are certain days with no cover charge and ladies’ nights! Check out their Instagram page for more info!

Sandy Toes Beach Bar & Grill

Sandy Toes Beach Bar & Grill is the perfect spot for a laid-back yet lively night out in San Pedro. While it’s not a club, this beachfront lounge stays open until midnight, transforming into a vibrant party scene on weekends. With live music and DJs setting the mood, you can dance the night away with your toes in the sand. Conveniently located next to Palapa Bar, Sandy Toes offers a unique mix of relaxation and excitement, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the best of San Pedro’s nightlife.

It does seem that a lot of nightclubs in San Pedro were closed down due in the Pandemic or shortly after. Don’t let that stop you from having a good time. There’s still tons of bars and lounges with a vibrant nightlife!
