17 Beach Must Haves To Bring To the Beach
As a beach lover, I know what beach must haves you need to bring for the perfect beach day. Whether I’m heading to a local spot or flying somewhere tropical, I like to be prepared so I can fully relax and enjoy the beach. From long beach days with friends to solo mornings watching the waves, these beach necessities help me stay comfortable, safe, and ready for whatever the day brings. And while a towel and swimsuit are obvious, these are the lesser-known but super helpful items I’ve found that make every beach day better.
Growing up on the East Coast, the beach was always a big part of my life. Some of my favorite memories are from summers spent building sandcastles, boogie boarding with cousins, or just laying under the sun with a good book. These days, as soon as the weather’s nice, I’m at the beach 2 to 3 times a week. I love it all! Solo beach trips to reset, fun days with my besties, or chill family hangs. And no matter where I’m going, these 17 items are always in my beach bag.

Beach Must Haves
1. Portable Sand-Free Beach Blanket
If you’re tired of dragging sand into your car or bag, this sand-free blanket is a game changer. It’s lightweight, folds up small, and the sand just brushes right off. It also dries quickly and doesn’t cling to wet towels or suits. Great for group hangs or solo days when you want extra space. I never leave home without it now.
2. Waterproof Fanny Pack
You need somewhere safe for your phone, keys, and cards, especially if you’re going in the water. A waterproof fanny pack keeps everything dry and close by. It straps around your waist or across your chest, and it’s way more convenient than digging in a big tote.
3. Beach Chair Backpack
If you like comfort and convenience, get a beach chair that turns into a backpack. It frees up your hands for your cooler, umbrella, or iced coffee. Look for one with pockets for snacks, sunscreen, and books. It’s one of those beach hacks that makes your whole day so much easier.
4. Foldable Beach Table
This small table might sound extra, but it’s actually a lifesaver. No more sandy snacks or spilled drinks. It folds up flat, is easy to carry, and gives you a clean surface for lunch, card games, or your phone. It is definitely a beach vacation upgrade worth making.
5. Cooling Neck Towel
When it’s really hot, this cooling towel is everything. Just dip it in water, wring it out, and wrap it around your neck. It stays cool for hours and makes those peak sun hours so much more manageable. Whether you’re reading, tanning, or playing volleyball, it keeps you from overheating.

6. Reusable Snack Bags
Ditch the plastic and bring these cute, reusable snack bags. They’re perfect for fruit, chips, or even sandwiches, and easy to clean. I always pack mine with snacks so I’m not tempted to buy overpriced beach food. They’re small, practical, and great for the environment!
7. Insulated Water Jug
If you’re planning to be out all day, you need more than just a tiny water bottle. An insulated water jug keeps your drinks cold all day and holds enough to share. I love bringing lemon or cucumber slices to make it feel a little fancy too. Staying hydrated is key to enjoying your beach day.
8. Foldable Pop-Up Changing Tent
This is especially helpful if you’re at a beach without changing rooms. The pop-up tent gives you privacy to change, and it folds up compactly when you’re done. It’s great for road trips, family beach days, or travel. No more awkward towel wiggles trying to change clothes.
9. Travel Beach Game Set
Spice up your beach activities with a mini travel game set. Whether it’s paddleball, frisbee, or a beach card game, it’s a fun way to stay active between swims. Look for a set that’s lightweight and easy to pack. It’s perfect for groups or even starting a little friendly competition with other people on the beach.
10. Bluetooth Speaker
If you love beach vibes, music is a must! (Try not to be too loud, though!) This waterproof Bluetooth speaker sticks to your cooler or chair and is sand-resistant. I use it for podcasts, too, if I’m at the beach alone. Just keep the volume respectful and enjoy your personal beach soundtrack.

11. Clip-On Umbrella Anchor
Windy days won’t be a problem with a sturdy umbrella anchor. This attaches to your beach umbrella and keeps it locked in place, even when the wind picks up. It’s lightweight and easy to screw into the sand. Definitely worth it to avoid chasing your umbrella down the shore.
12. Waterproof Playing Cards
Sand, water, and regular playing cards don’t mix, but these waterproof ones hold up great. Perfect for games with friends, especially on slower beach days. They’re easy to shuffle even when your hands are sandy. And they come in cute designs to match your beach pictures.
13. Quick-Dry Mesh Beach Bag
After a long beach day, nobody wants a wet, soggy bag. A mesh beach bag lets all the sand and water drain out before you get to the car. It holds everything but doesn’t trap moisture, which helps avoid that musty smell. I keep mine folded in my trunk for spontaneous beach trips.
14. UV Protection Beach Tent
If you’re sensitive to the sun or just want a shady break, this UV protection beach tent is a must. It pops up fast, provides good airflow, and blocks the sun without overheating. Great for kids, naps, or mid-day lunch breaks. It turns any beach day into a more relaxing experience.

15. Compact Beach Binoculars
For people-watching, bird spotting, or just checking out the view, compact binoculars are underrated. They’re especially fun at beaches with cliffs or boats. Toss them in your bag for a different way to enjoy the scenery. You’d be surprised how many cool things you notice when you zoom in.
16. Portable Fan with Mist
This fan clips onto your chair or umbrella and has a built-in mister. It’s been so essential for hot, windless beach days. Rechargeable and lightweight, it’ll keep you cool when the breeze isn’t cutting it. A little mist on the face makes everything feel better (trust me).
17. Beach-Friendly Book Holder
If you’re like me and love reading at the beach, you need this. It holds your book open so you don’t have to fumble with pages while tanning. Some even come with a cover to block sun glare. It’s a small thing that makes a big difference for beach readers.

Beach Essentials
There’s nothing like a solid beach day to reset your energy, and having the right beach must haves makes it so much better. These 17 essentials go beyond the usual towel and sunscreen, helping you stay organized, cool, and ready for fun. From smart storage to comfort upgrades, each of these items makes beach life a little easier.
Whether I’m back on the East Coast or traveling somewhere new, I never hit the sand without these in my beach bag. They’re tried-and-true favorites that have come with me on solo trips, girls’ getaways, and big family beach days. So next time you’re planning your own beach vacation, don’t forget to bring a few of these along. You’ll thank yourself when you’re relaxing, snack in hand, music playing, soaking up the gorgeous beach vibes.
